Eliminating washroom odours and blockages and saving water too
February 10th 2006 Cistermiser pioneered washroom water-saving in 1976 and now leads a whole industry sector which is increasingly concerned about the cost of water and sewerage. The company has moved on since the name on its original hydraulic valves, which still sell in large numbers, became virtually generic within this sector.
Today Cistermiser offers an extensive range of water-saving and allied products, including the Infra Red Cistermiser (IRC), an electronic alternative to the hydraulic range, the comprehensive Cistermiser Washroom Control (CWC) package, Easyflush DirectFlush for urinals without automatic flushing cisterns (header tanks)and the hands-free Easyflush Flush-and-Fill WC valve. The Company also sells the Freeway and BioBlocks which prevent pipe blockages and washroom odours; these can be used with Freeflush dosing compound to remove existing blockages in waste pipes. Cistermiser recently launched a range of infra-red taps which have both hygiene and water economy benefits. The Company also makes the Combimate domestic limescale prevention device which prevents boilers and domestic appliances from scaling up, saving both water and energy.
All the company’s products are WRAS approved and the urinal flush controls (hydraulic, IRC and Direct Flush) have been awarded ECA status on DEFRA’s Water Techologies list which means both their cost and the expense of having them installed are fully tax-deductible in the year of their purchase.
The company’s urinal flush controls will save over 80% of the water routinely wasted by nearubiquitous automatic flushing cisterns. This equates to an average annual saving of 270,000 litres or £540 per cistern in a normal commercial premises and the product pays for itself (including the installation cost) in less than six months. By installing Freeway filters, which contain their own visible and easily replaceable Bioblocks, the flush volume from an IRC can be reduced even further due to its integral, patented, variable-flow restrictor, so that even bigger savings can be made and users can be sure that any nasty odours will be prevented in their washrooms.
Water-saving and hygiene, due to the no-touch functioning of the products, are the common themes running through all of the Company’s products. For example, infra-red taps can be pre-set to minimise water wastage. Easyflush Flush-and-Fill WC valves can be adjusted to provide low-volume flushing to satisfy water regulations.
The Washroom Control (CWC) can isolate both water and electricity so lights, fans and water are only used when the washroom is occupied, minimising energy consumption across all utilities.
Cistermiser is a vertically integrated manufacturer and can offer full product training at its factory where customers can see its products being made and tested. The Company also has a pre and post-sales technical advice line and the, rarely used, back-up of a nationwide network of service engineers for installation advice and help.
