Helping the Public Sector
DVS has a Framework Agreement for the supply of water saving products to the Public Sector and also provide help and advice on how to cost effectively reduce water use.
One example was a water audit and conservation exercise carried out for Churston Ferrers Grammer School where 46% was saved with payback just over 6 months. This case study and many other examples of how to save water can be seen on the DVS web site www.dartvalley.co.uk.
Reducing Water in Busy Public Toilet
Busy Public and office toilets require robust and reliable products. DVS no-touch products have proven to be outstanding and are chosen by many clients who have busy toilets or where toilets are subject to abuse.
Most of the major UK airports install DVS no-touch water saving washroom products including automatic taps, urinal controls and WC Flushvalves.
All the motorway services are installing the WC Flushvalves which are hygienic, easy to use for children and disabled, save water and reduce maintenance. Broken handles and linkages can be a major nuisance and cost in busy public toilets.
Other Areas where DVS save water
DVS provide solutions for most applications where water flow is involved. One example is a famous breakfast cereal manufacturer who had a problem of hoses being left on. DVS provided wave-on controls that timed out to turn the hoses off. The payback period was around 3 months.
One bespoke solution was for a major supermarket where the dry cleaning cooling water was going to drain. DVS designed and installed systems throughout the group to store the water and use it for toilet flushing, saving the Company in the order of £500,000 per year.
Save Water and Improve Hygiene
Some sophistication should be applied when considering water savings. For example if you have a poor flushing WC and install displacement bags you could end up double flushing and using more water. So called “waterless” urinals may in some situations lead to problems, generating smells and poor hygiene.
Products and Typical savings include
| “Restrictaflow” flow reducers | 30% | | WC displacement bag | 10% | | Shower flow reducers | 30% | | No-touch shower controls | 30% | | Push taps | 40% | | Electronic taps | 65% | | Electronic WC Flushvalve | 30% | | Urinal Controls | 80% |
